The Siccagno tomato is cultivated in the Sicilian inland. Because of the clay soil and climatic specificities of this area, it grows and ripens in dry conditions, which is why we call it “Sicagno” in dialect. The plant is not watered but only gets the humidity resulting from the temperature range between day and night, and is exposed to the Sicilian hot sun and the northerly winds. All of this guarantees an intensely and sweetly flavoured sauce, enhanced even more by the onion and fresh basil sauté.
SUGGESTED USE: pour directly onto just drained pasta or reheat for 2/3 minutes.
